Millenium Centre

Acoustic Panels

This project extended the already acclaimed Donald Gordon Theatre in the Wales Millennium Centre and comprised the Hoddinott Hall and Grace Williams studio and associated backroom facilities. Hoddinott Hall, was developed primarily as a rehearsal and recording studio, but can also seat over 300 people for a variety of musical performances and as such required world class acoustics.
Sustainable sound reflecting hardwood feature panels creates the warm and generous acoustics. The hardwood feature panels had varying sizes of solid hardwood battens applied, with high level half barrel sections housing the heating and ventilation ducting. In addition there were pyramid shaped walls with curved timber lighting panels suspended from the ceiling.
